WELCOME TO THE WA BUSH POETS AND YARNSPINNERS ASSOCIATION!

 

The art of bush poetry and yarn spinning is all about entertaining and connecting the audience to Australia, Australians and/or the Australian way of life. 
 

It is about telling a story with just the right amount of humour, passion, feeling and sometimes, a touch of the theatrical, to help us touch that part of us that can be difficult in everyday life.
 

The WA Bush Poets and Yarnspinners club aims to promote and foster the art of Bush Poetry across Western Australia. To do this the club members run many regular and annual Bush Poetry and Yarnspinning events across the state.
 

Most new members come along to an event or two and if inspired will join up and start coming to the monthly or bi-monthly ‘Musters’.
 

All you need is a love of the art to join … but perhaps one day you may be inspired have a go yourself!

Throughout the year there are a number of Bush Poetry Competitions where poets can hone and test their skills.

BOOK A POET

Bush poetry can add a truly unique Australian flavour to any event.
Many of the poets in the club regularly perform at private events. You can see their style, some of their repertoire, and how to contact them on the ‘Book a Poet’ page. 

JOINNG WA BUSH POETS

The WA Bushpoets and Yarnspinners club welcomes new members. Being a member usually involves attending the regular ‘Musters’ and some of the other events.
Because many events are in rural towns members often spend weekends together eating, drinking and sharing the art of bush poetry and yarn spinning.

 

You don’t need to be a bush poet to join, just an appreciation and love of the art.. And perhaps over time you will be inspired to get up and have a go yourself.
